Learn a little bit about who we are

Meet Romy

After I graduated from Rhodes University with a degree in journalism, I felt that I needed to add a little creativity to my skills set, so signed up to do a post-grad diploma in advertising and marketing. I launched my career in retail marketing at Nelson Mandela Square, (then called Sandton Square) and after four years, moved on to take up the position as marketing manager at Hyde Park Shopping Centre. Moving out of retail, I dived into the world of corporate PR & Marketing, heading up Consumer PR at Leo Burnett’s PR arm, MS&L. It was then time to go it alone. After having spent 12 years running my PR & Marketing business I needed to indulge my true passion and make my dream a reality. After much time spent locally and internationally exploring, searching, researching, learning, looking and experimenting I conceptualized an offering that I am really passionate about, and so The Gift Wrap Studio was born. My vision is to elevate gift wrapping to an art form that may be incorporated into all facets of one’s life. The symbolism is what’s important, even if the gift is modest. Going the extra mile to wrap a gift transforms the experience, and the effort is evident. The recipient feels special and the gift seems more exciting, no matter what it is. Gift wrapping as an art represents friendship, respect and gratitude. The Gift Wrap Studio is the culmination of a life-long dream to have a business that feeds my creative spirit, where I can use this form of self-expression to create, share and inspire.

Meet Kiara

Graduating from LISOF fashion college in 2020, I embarked on a journey to find my passion. In 2017 I took a gap year and travelled to New York. It was there where I discovered how many creative opportunities there are and how many more are yet to be discovered. My inspiration and passion for making things pretty grew. I have interned and worked in many different fields that allowed me to to create my path to what I wanted to do. I worked for Romy during my school and college years, and I really enjoyed being able to further my passion for gifting by learning a new skill. The Gift Wrap Studio is an inclusive space that allows individuals to experiment with their own creativity.
